CMS agency in Unterföhring near Munich
After our first conversation, you will know which CMS suits your editorial team
TYPO3, Neos, Plone, Joomla, WordPress, Drupal, Contao or headless: we work with several systems and base our recommendation on your workflows.
Describe your situationOn screen: sample view of a content management system with fictitious content
Workflows first, then the system
Whether TYPO3 or WordPress is “better” cannot be answered without knowing your situation. What matters is who maintains the content, who approves it, which data comes from other systems and how long the website is meant to run.
We build websites with several content management systems and support them afterwards. That is why we have no reason to sell you any particular system. You get a recommendation with reasons, in writing and before the quote.
Which CMS is right for you? Five questions that narrow down the choice
Work through the questions from top to bottom. Where several systems are listed, budget, hosting and your team's know-how make the decision.
Who maintains the content, and does anyone need to approve it?
Are there areas that only certain groups may see?
Do you sell through the website?
- Yes, with a shopping cart, payment methods and an ERP connectionMagentoShopware(online shop development)
- Only individual offers, bookings or enquiriesA form or an extension in the CMS is usually enough for that.
Should content also appear in an app, on information screens or in other systems?
- Yes, one piece of content should appear in several channelsHeadless CMSor a CMS with an API:PloneTYPO3Neos
- No, only on the websiteA classic CMS is simpler and cheaper to run.
How long should the website run, and does BITV 2.0 apply?
This is an initial orientation, not a final decision. In our conversation, we also take your existing content and interfaces into account.
Systems we work with
Four of them with work samples that are online today. Click a name to go to the detailed page.

TYPO3
For large websites with many editors, several languages and long support periods.
Example: Sustainable Sports Events web portal, concept, design and development

Joomla
For corporate websites that need multilingual content and user management without add-on modules.
Example: TELIC AG, IoT hardware from Munich

WordPress
For smaller websites where one person needs to publish posts and events quickly.
Example: CrossFit Helden Pforzheim, website development

Magento and Shopware
For online shops with ERP integration, dealer access and many product variants. More under Magento agency.
Example: Cube Store Chiemsee, support for the Shopware 6 online shop
Other systems
- NeosVersion 9.2 since 9 Oct 2026Editing directly on the page, for editorial teams who want to see what they publish.
- PloneVersion 6.2 since 19 May 2026Fine-grained permissions per folder and approval workflows, for public authorities, research and associations.
- DrupalVersion 11; Drupal 10 receives updates until 9 Dec 2026For portals with many content types and interfaces. We take over existing Drupal websites.
- ContaoVersion 5.7 with long-term support since 18 Feb 2026A lean PHP CMS from Germany, for medium-sized websites.
- Headless CMSAn architecture, not a single productMaintain content centrally and deliver it via an API to your website, app and screens.
Versions and support dates as of 30 Oct 2026, sources: neos.io, plone.org, drupal.org, contao.org (summarised on endoflife.date; Drupal 10: announcement by drupal.org, as reported by Acquia and The DropTimes).

When switching systems pays off, and when it doesn't
A switch pays off if …
- your version no longer receives security updates, such as Joomla 3 and 4, Drupal 7 or Plone 5.2 (example: PHP security vulnerability)
- your editors use workarounds to operate the system: content sent by e-mail, spreadsheets instead of forms
- you need permissions, languages or interfaces that the system cannot provide
- key functions depend on extensions that nobody maintains any more
Probably not if …
- only the design is outdated: a new template in the existing system is usually enough
- updates have been left undone, but the system itself is still maintained: then an update will help (TYPO3 update, Joomla update)
- the wish is only driven by a trend, such as going headless without a second channel
What we take care of with every system
Whichever system it turns out to be: you have one contact person from selection to operation. Once the project is complete, the source code and usage rights become your property, with the exception of purchased templates and subscription services.
- System selection with written reasoning
- Concept, design and implementation (website development)
- Migration of content from the old system, with redirects for Google
- Accessibility in line with WCAG 2.2 and BITV 2.0 (learn more)
- Training for your editors using your own content
- Updates, backups and monitoring (website maintenance)
- Hosting with our partner mittwald in Germany or with your provider

Frequently asked questions about choosing a CMS
Which CMS is the best?
There is no best CMS, only the right one. For many editors with approvals, TYPO3, Plone or Drupal are a good fit; for small websites, WordPress, Joomla or Contao; for editorial teams who want to work directly on the page, Neos. We only make a recommendation once we know your workflows.
Are there licence fees for the CMS?
Not for the systems on this page: TYPO3, Neos, Plone, Joomla, WordPress, Drupal and Contao are open source. Costs arise for implementation, hosting, maintenance and, where applicable, paid extensions. These are set out in the quote in advance.
Can you migrate our content from the old system?
Yes. We migrate texts, images, documents and users by script where possible, and by hand where scripting isn't worth it. We redirect old URLs to the new ones so that your search rankings are preserved.
Is WordPress insecure?
Not in principle. Most problems are caused by outdated or poorly maintained extensions and missing updates. That applies to every CMS. With regular maintenance, WordPress is a good choice for many websites.
What is a headless CMS, and do we need one?
A headless CMS delivers content only via an API; a separate application takes care of the presentation. This pays off when the same content is to appear on the website, in an app and in other channels. Find out more on our Headless CMS page.
Do you also support websites built by another agency?
Yes. We first check the version, extensions and security, and then tell you whether continued operation, an update or a switch makes sense.
