Papierwahl für Ihr Druckerzeugnis

The choice of paper for a specific printed product is of strategic importance, as the type of paper, just like the shape, color, and text, can convey a message and influence the design as well as the choice of printing process. The type of paper also represents a significant factor in the overall project budget.

Lesetypografie

“Readability” – often also referred to as “legibility” – is understood in the field of reading typography as the optimal macrotypographic and microtypographic presentation of a body of text, which a recipient (reader) perceives as pleasant, correct, and non-disruptive even when reading longer passages of text, for example in a book, newspaper, annual report, or on a website.

But in reality, White Space is one of the most powerful design elements when it comes to creating usability, clarity, and elegance. In this article, you will learn why less can sometimes be more – and how you can use White Space strategically to increase your conversion rate.

Neos CMS – Setting up the calendar date for multilingual support

In multilingual websites, it is important to display content in the appropriate language and context – especially when it comes to localized content for international audiences. One often overlooked aspect is the date. For example, when the day of the week is displayed, PHP outputs it in English by default, regardless of the language of the page. This not only affects the user experience, but can also be relevant for SEO.

In this article, we show how to use an EEL helper in Neos CMS (version 8.3 and later) to correctly localize the date according to the language dimension – an important building block for technically clean, multilingual websites, such as those required for data-driven performance marketing campaigns.

In e-commerce, AI can help optimize customer service, improve the shopping experience, and even increase efficiency in logistics. In this blog post, we would like to introduce you to some of the most important aspects of AI in e-commerce. From personalization and image recognition to chatbots and delivery, we will try to answer all your questions and provide you with a comprehensive introduction to the topic. So make yourself comfortable and let’s dive into the world of AI in retail together.

Webdesign, erfolgreich im E-Commerce

Today, customers expect more than they did in the past in the everyday experience economy. An excellent user experience is essential for convincing customers of a product or service. When entering an e-shop or website, the first impression is crucial to the purchasing decision. User experience is therefore at the heart of a company’s ability to attract and win customers. A positive user experience is the benchmark for success in online retail. In this article, we explain what user experience means in B2B, why user experience is so important in B2B, and why personalization leads to success in e-commerce.

Dpi

In short, dpi indicates how many dots can be displayed within one inch. In other words, the value specifies the number of image dots per inch. One inch equals 2.54 cm. This is particularly important in the print sector, as high-quality printing requires different resolutions depending on the printing process and image subject. As a general rule: the higher the dpi value, the better the print quality. If the dpi value is too low, the printed image will correspondingly appear pixelated and blurry.

HTML Grundlagen

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is a text-based markup language used to structure electronic documents such as text, images, and other content. Today, we will show you the basic fundamentals:

WordPress Update Version 5.9

In January 2022, the new WordPress version 5.9 was released. The update takes another step towards Full-Site Editing (FSE) with the Gutenberg editor. This means that block-based editing of content is no longer limited to widgets; the entire website can now be customized from the backend. In addition, many adjustments and improvements were made to the block editor itself and to the overall performance of WordPress.

CSS-Eigenschaft - width und height

Block elements by default take up as much width as possible and as much height as necessary. With the help of CSS, widths and heights can be enforced, both to restrict and to stretch them. Overall, CSS properties are available for width and height (width and height), minimum width and minimum height (min-width and min-height), as well as maximum width and maximum height (max-width and max-height).

CSS - Fonts

Choosing the right font has a major impact on how readers experience a website. It can give your brand a strong identity and enhance the text. It is important to choose a font that is easy to read, with the right color and text size. Finding the right font for your website is therefore a very important factor when creating a website!

Code Buttons

The <button> tag defines a clickable button. Text (and tags such as <i>, <b>, <strong>, <br>, <img>, etc.) can be inserted inside a <button> element. This is not possible with a button created using the <input> element!

Tip: Always specify the type attribute for a <button> element to tell browsers what type of button it is.

Html Tabelle

A table is an organized collection of text or data. The content to be displayed is divided into rows (horizontal) and columns (vertical), which are graphically aligned with one another. HTML tables are the semantically appropriate structure for displaying tabular data in rows and columns. Several elements are responsible for creating the grid structure of a table. In the simplest case, a table consists of table rows containing table cells.

CSS float und clear

Using the CSS property “float”, an element can be moved to the left or right inner edge of its parent element. The special feature is that the “clear” property can be used to specify whether subsequent content should flow around the element or form an independent section.

Klassen in HTML und CSS

The class attribute assigns an element to one or more classes. Classes are an HTML concept used to mark similar elements in the markup with the (not exclusive!) goal of addressing them with a class selector. However, they do not necessarily have to be similar elements. Multiple class names are separated by spaces.

PageSpeed

The PageSpeed (also known as loading time) describes the time required for a website to load completely. The faster a page loads, the sooner visitors can see the content and navigate within the website. A fast loading time also ensures that visitors can access a website at all and do not abandon their visit due to long waiting times before they are able to see any content.

Critical CSS

Critical CSS is often referred to as the “Critical CSS Rendering Path”, which means all the necessary CSS code required to display a website in a browser for the website visitor. Visitors will often see a white screen until the CSS stylesheets have been downloaded and evaluated. For this reason, optimizing CSS delivery is important for page speed and the user experience. To improve the loading speed of a website, only the CSS required to load the visible part of a page should be loaded. Since all CSS is rendered, this means that the page appears much faster to the website visitor. This is why PageSpeed tools often advise users to remove render-blocking CSS below the fold. This refers to CSS that is not required for the page to be displayed correctly within the website visitor's viewport. The inline section (i.e. directly in the `<head>` using `<style>`) should contain everything necessary to render the visible area. This section is referred to as “critical”.

Mobile first

"Mobile first" refers to a concept in responsive web design. The mobile-optimized version of the website is developed first, followed gradually by enhancements for larger displays such as desktop browsers. In other words, you work from the smallest layout version to the largest. Web design based on the Mobile First principle is an adaptation to the fact that Internet usage is increasingly shifting towards smartphones. The proportion of search queries from all relevant countries made via smartphones is now significantly higher than those made via traditional desktop devices.

Bildformat

Especially on the web, many factors need to be considered when choosing the right image format. These include file size, color spectrum, transparency and scalability. But which image format is best suited for what purpose? There are many different image formats, but they differ in their individual properties. Some, for example, support a transparent background, others offer a wide color spectrum, while others can only be compressed with loss of quality.

Mockup

A mockup (presentation model, visual model) is a digital design of an app or website used to turn a customer's requirements or an idea into a customized design. Mockups are used during the early conceptual phase to visualize ideas and concepts as part of web design. The purpose of such a mockup concept is to allow different combinations of elements and different content structures to be designed and modified without a great deal of effort.

Kontaktformular

Contact forms can enrich virtually any website, as they give visitors the opportunity to get in touch with you quickly and easily and send you a message as the website operator. They are also a simple and widely used way to collect feedback or inquiries from customers or prospective customers.

Domain

A domain is the address people use to visit a website. It is a globally unique and unambiguous name or address under which users can access content on the Internet or a network. It is an essential part of the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) and specifies where the corresponding resource can be found within the hierarchical structure. Internet domains can, for example, look like this: www.beispiel.de.

HSB-Farbmodell

In addition to the RGB model, colors are very often defined digitally using the HSB model. The H stands for “hue”. The S stands for “saturation”. And the B stands for “brightness”. Hue is described as an angle between 0° and 360°, while saturation and brightness are specified as percentage values between 0% and 100%.

Breakpoints

Responsive websites are based on flexible design grids and automatically adapt to the different screen sizes of various devices. For optimal display on tablets or smartphones, so-called breakpoints are defined using CSS media queries. These are the points at which the design of a website changes or the containers wrap.

WordPress Vor- und Nachteile

WordPress is software that can be used to create and manage your own blog or website. The software is a Content Management System (CMS) that is characterized by its widespread use, simple configuration and high level of customization.

What is CSS and how is it structured?

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets and is a styling and formatting language that makes it possible to define the appearance and design of HTML documents. It is therefore not concerned with the content of a website, but with the design or style of the page. With CSS, users can, for example, customize fonts, colors, lines, heights and widths on a website.

Typografie: Serif und Sans-Serif

The difference between sans-serif fonts and serif fonts lies in the so-called serifs, which are decorative elements on letters. These are the small finishing strokes at the top or bottom of letters. Sans-serif fonts have clean lines and no decorative elements.

Bootstrap

Bootstrap is a free frontend CSS framework. It contains CSS- and HTML-based templates for designing buttons, grid systems, icons, typography and highlights, tables, forms, navigation and other design elements. Bootstrap is also a responsive framework developed with mobile devices such as smartphones in mind first (“Mobile First”). This means that Bootstrap uses media queries to adapt applications and websites to virtually any device without requiring duplicate code.

gute Webseite

Anyone who runs their own website wants to reach as many people as possible with their content and, of course, convince them with what they have to offer. But what makes a website a good and, above all, user-friendly site that visitors appreciate and use frequently? In addition to the right domain, web design and website development play a major role here.

Farbenlehre - Der Farbkreis

 What is the color wheel?

The color wheel is an organizational system in which colors are arranged in a circular format. It provides guidance on color combinations and shows which colors harmonize with one another. There are various versions of the color wheel in which colors are categorized according to physical, physiological, artistic, aesthetic and technical aspects.

Unterschied RGB und CMYK

To represent colors in digital media and in print, two systems are primarily used: RGB and CMYK. The color spaces of RGB and CMYK do not completely overlap. This means that not all RGB colors can be printed, and not all print colors created with CMYK can be displayed on digital screens.

Image Map

What exactly is an Image Map? Do you know? If you are interested in this topic, you have come to the right place. The following explains what an Image Map is, what its purpose is, and in which areas it is used. Examples are also provided to explain where it is most commonly used. The advantages and disadvantages of an Image Map are then described, along with important key terms. Finally, you will find instructions for creating your own Image Map using an app such as “Photoshop”.

 WordPress Child-Theme

What is a Child Theme?

A Child Theme is a theme that inherits the styling and functionality of another theme, known as the Parent Theme. It is essentially a copy of the Parent Theme in which certain changes and customizations can be made without modifying the original Parent Theme.

 Call-to-Action

A Call-to-Action (CTA), which translates to “prompt to take an action,” is, as the name suggests, a request for the user to do something. In web design, Call-to-Actions are usually interactive elements on a website. They can appear, for example, as a button or a simple link. However, an embedded video can also be a Call-to-Action because it encourages the user to click on it and watch it.

Newsletter erfolgreich

When creating a newsletter, the newsletter creation tool often gives you the option to analyze the newsletter's performance using reports. These reports contain a lot of numbers and statistics, and it is often difficult to know what to make of them. Which figures are good and which are rather poor? How can you use the statistics to make your next newsletter more appealing?

Wirkung und Funktion von Farben

Colors can serve different functions in web design and create specific effects. For example, they can be used to stimulate users, create structure and guide them, and last but not least, they can be deliberately used to attract attention and highlight specific elements.

UX Designer

There is no one-size-fits-all formula in a design process that can simply be followed blindly. Every product is different, and therefore its development phase must also be adapted individually. The approach of a UX designer cannot therefore be generalized. In addition, every designer has different approaches and methods that have proven effective for them. Accordingly, this article is intended only to provide a brief overview of one possible design process and various methodologies.

gutes Design

This is a question that everyone has to answer for themselves. Design is, first and foremost, subjective. Every person has an individual character and therefore their own personal taste. What one person likes, someone else may find terrible.

 UX Design

Terms such as User Experience Design are used every day in our web design agency, including in conversations with clients. It is often forgotten that not everyone knows what this term actually means. That is why the following article aims to provide some clarity.

Chronoforms 5 Variabilisierung von Footer/Header

A few years ago, our agency created a website for a client that included several forms. At the time, however, we had added a fixed footer containing the company’s business details to the forms.

We then ran into a problem when one of the managing directors left the company, as every form had to be edited individually.

To avoid this problem in the future, we decided this time to use Joomla’s Fields feature.

Joomla Chronoform 0 syntax error, unexpected '}', expecting end of file

0 syntax error, unexpected '}', expecting end of file administrator\components\com_chronoforms5\chronoforms\actions\email\email.php(127) : eval()'d code:59

Kontaktformular in Laravel

Problem encountered at our web agency: The contact form on our website, built with the PHP framework Laravel, is available in two languages: German and English. When the German contact form is submitted, the administrator receives an email in German and can easily attach this email when replying to or forwarding it. However, when the English version of the contact form is submitted, the administrator also receives the email in German.

newsletter marketing

When creating templates in Newsletter2Go, you may want to integrate an unsubscribe link into a custom template at a specific location within an HTML element rather than in a text element, where inserting an unsubscribe link via a dropdown or pop-up is offered (most help articles and videos on this topic refer to this option). In this case, you can use an unsubscribe link in a text element to determine the shortcut code and then transfer it to the desired HTML element.

Laravel Website: Cookie Consent – GDPR / CJEU Ruling

Following the ECJ ruling of October 1, 2019, it is recommended to implement an explicit opt-in for all marketing cookies—or, more broadly, for any cookies not strictly necessary for the website's operation. This means that a user must consent to a marketing cookie before it is deployed (for instance, before tracking via Google Analytics begins). So, how do we implement this explicit opt-in process in Laravel? One streamlined and straightforward option is the Cookie Consent solution from Osano (https://cookieconsent.osano.com/). It allows us to handle everything using just a bit of JavaScript across two layout partials (since the website is bilingual, two language files are also involved—more on that below!).

reCaptcha 2 in Laravel einbauen

The current challenge at our web agency is: How do I secure my contact form with Google reCAPTCHA v2? First, we install the required Biscolab extension via Composer using require biscolab/laravel-recaptcha. We then follow the manual at https://laravel-recaptcha-docs.biscolab.com/docs/intro and create the configuration file using php artisan vendor:publish --provider="Biscolab\ReCaptcha\ReCaptchaServiceProvider". Finally, we add the keys we previously obtained from Google (Site Key and Secret Key) to the .env file.

TYPO3 v8 XAMPP Installation

Before installation, TYPO3 checks whether all installation requirements are met. Among other things, TYPO3 also checks whether the memory_limit in the php.ini of the XAMPP installation is restricted. In our case, we had limited it to 2,048 MB:

memory_limit=2048M. Nevertheless, the warning "Unlimited memory limit for PHP" continued to appear before the TYPO3 installation. The detailed message was:

Table 'Tabellenname.#__chronoforms_LoginEvents' doesn’t exist

If you receive the error message Table 'TableName.#__chronoforms_LoginEvents' doesn’t exist in Joomla with the ChronoForms (v5) extension on a Linux server, even though the aforementioned table does exist, the issue may be related to case sensitivity.

The exact location of the problem can be difficult to find because ChronoForms stores forms in serialized form in the database. In our case, the culprit was a Log Action in the Setup section of a form. The selected table was not displayed there, even though ChronoForms' verification confirmed that a selection had been made ("Table selected" in the Setup overview of the affected form).

 Kiribati-Schnittstelle

The task here was to integrate the seminars managed with Kiribati ("Kiribati Seminarverwaltung" by Include GmbH) into a TYPO3 8 website, so that events could be displayed on the website and registrations submitted through the TYPO3 website could be forwarded to Kiribati. In other words, the implementation consisted of an event import (Kiribati -> TYPO3 website) and a registration export (TYPO3 website -> Kiribati).

Akkordeon in Chronoforms Joomla

We want to create an accordion container in ChronoForms V5 in Joomla that can be used to hide long texts and expand them when needed — in the ChronoForms context, essentially a slider. There are several tutorials explaining how to set this up, and they work reasonably well. In other words, you create a slider_area container and then add slider containers inside it, which can in turn be populated with custom content. So far, so good — however, if you only want to display a single text in an accordion, two problems arise:

Wordpress Plugin Problem

If you use the multilingual plugin "WPML" and configure it so that the different languages are accessible via separate domains or subdomains, problems can occur when using the performance plugin "WP Fastest Cache" at the same time. This is because it does not take the different languages into account when defining the page cache. As a result, the same content may be displayed under a different domain because the cache directory is identical.

phpMyadmin: Fatal error

It can happen that the following error message is displayed when importing a database via phpMyAdmin:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in xampp\phpmyadmin\libraries\dbi\mysql.dbi.lib.php on line 140

As you can see from the error message, the maximum execution time of 60 seconds has been exceeded. This often happens with particularly large databases. To import the database nevertheless, you need to manually increase the execution time.

MooTools Slideshow

When implementing a simple slideshow using the MooTools JavaScript library, problems can occur with newer Joomla installations and, consequently, newer versions of the MooTools library. In MooTools version 1.4.0 and later, the "setters" syntax, such as Element.setOpacity() and Element.set('opacity'), is no longer supported.

CSS-Styles

If the frontend view in Joomla differs significantly from the backend view, the frontend CSS styles may not be loaded, or may only be partially loaded, in the backend editor. As in most other cases, it is worth taking a look at the source code. When searching for the JavaScript variable content_css, you should find the value that corresponds to the setting that needs to be configured in the JCE component:

click-Event in select-Elementen

Internet Explorer cannot handle the click event within select elements. Therefore, if you use AJAX-based effects that are supposed to be triggered when selecting an option within a select element, nothing happens in Internet Explorer. This issue can be circumvented by changing the click event to a change event. In our example, we use the JavaScript framework Prototype.

Facebook-Beiträge in Joomla

If you want to display your Facebook account's wall within a Joomla CMS as part of a website development project, you can use the free extension "qe Facebook Wall Feed" (Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5). It is easy to install by following the instructions in the manual (create a Facebook application, log in with Facebook, integrate it, and you're done).

Bild- und Videoformate im Web und auf Social Media: Welche Formate eignen sich am besten?Bild- und Videoformate im Web und auf Social Media: Welche Formate eignen sich am besten?

Choosing the right image and video format is crucial for displaying content optimally across different platforms. Each platform has its own requirements and recommendations that need to be taken into account to achieve the best quality and performance. In this article, I will introduce the most important formats and resolutions that work best on social media and the web.

Influencer Marketing on Social Media: Trends and Future Forecasts

Influencer marketing has become a central component of many marketing strategies and significantly influences the way brands interact with their target audiences. In this blog post, we will examine current trends in influencer marketing on platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok and provide predictions about how the field could develop in the future, based on reliable statistical data.

Social Media Trends 2023

HubSpot, in collaboration with its partner “Meltwater,” has published a trend analysis that you can use to inform your own social media strategy. The aim of this survey was to find out how companies can stand out from the competition. This article explores ways to optimize a social media strategy in 2023.

Socialmedia Bildgrößen

What image sizes do you need for the different types of posts on social media? Contrary to all hopes, each network still has its own dimensions and formats. Here you will find an up-to-date list of social media image sizes and dimensions for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube.

Instagram Werbung

Social media advertising is highly popular, and Instagram advertising is no exception. Contemporary evaluations show that companies clearly benefit from advertising on social media. Advertising on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram can attract customers just as effectively as traditional TV and print advertising and, when compared directly with established advertising methods, is clearly more cost-effective.

Inline scripts blocked after a Composer update? Here’s how to update the CSP whitelist.

In today’s digital world, security measures such as Content Security Policy (CSP) are essential for ensuring the integrity and security of websites. However, a Composer update to, for example, Magento 2.4.6-p6 can cause inline scripts to no longer load, which can be particularly problematic during the checkout process of an online shop. This article explains how this problem can be resolved, why these changes are necessary, and which security aspect needs to be taken into account.

Magento 2: Malicious code via API

Magento’s API is a popular target for attackers. It repeatedly happens that malicious code is injected into content blocks through compromised interfaces. This code can be executed automatically in visitors’ browsers when an affected page is accessed – with potentially serious consequences for security, privacy, and customer trust.

Magento 2: Missing images in the WYSIWYG editor after an update

After an update to Magento 2, we encountered a problem where images in the WYSIWYG editor were no longer displayed. However, when we uploaded a new image, it was displayed without any issues. All other files located in the WYSIWYG folder were still not displayed. Since the file permissions were correct and the error messages did not provide any specific clues about the problem, we had to investigate further.

Magento 2 with Computop and Fatchip

Task at our online shop agency: The payment interface from the manufacturer Customweb used in our Magento 2 shop had to be replaced with the interface from the provider Fatchip, as Computop had transferred the support of its shop interfaces from Customweb to Fatchip. The new Fatchip interface was installed without any problems, and the Customweb modules were uninstalled.

Magento: Display script hashes in the browser

When developing custom extensions in Magento 2, we encountered an issue where the Content Security Policy (CSP) hashes were not displayed in the browser console. These hashes are important for allowing inline scripts and other content that may be blocked by CSP. In this article, we show you how to create your own plugin to customize the CSP policies in Magento and make the hashes visible.

Auswahl einer Internetagentur

Großkundenprojekt mit Magento 2

Are you planning a large-scale enterprise project and have decided to use Magento 2 as your e-commerce platform? Then you have come to the right place! In this blog article, we give you an insight into our experience planning and implementing our own enterprise projects with Magento 2. We show you how to implement your project efficiently and successfully and what you should pay attention to along the way. Read on to discover useful tips and tricks for a successful Magento 2 implementation.

Magento 2 lokal installieren

Magento is a powerful e-commerce platform used by many online retailers worldwide. Installing Magento on a local server is the best way to get to know and test the platform without needing an Internet connection. However, if you have never installed an e-commerce platform before, it can seem a little intimidating. Don’t worry, we have created a step-by-step guide to help you install Magento on your local server! In this blog article, we will introduce you to the necessary steps and provide helpful tips and tricks to help you successfully install Magento.

Magento 2 Statische Datein und Xampp

At our agency, we needed to install a Magento CE 2.4.5-p1 online shop on XAMPP (PHP 8.1) / Windows. Magento web shops are not designed for Windows or XAMPP, so there are a few special considerations. After we had resolved most of the difficulties (the correct c:\xampp\apache\conf\extra\httpd-vhosts.conf configuration, adjusting \vendor\magento\framework\View\Element\Template\File\Validator.php due to the different directory separator, etc.), one error remained.

Magento 2.4 Webshop

Today's problem at our web agency in our online shop (Magento 2 CE 2.4.3): The Store Restriction Pro extension from extension developer MagePsycho, which is intended to restrict access to certain pages for specific user groups, was not working as expected. Among other things, the extension allows you to select CMS pages that should remain accessible without registration. However, when the cache was enabled, these pages were not displayed and users were instead redirected to the login page. The configuration made in the Magento backend was therefore not being applied correctly on the frontend.

Magento 2 Produktindividuelle Versandkosten

Our web agency was tasked with setting the shipping costs individually for each product in a Magento 2 online shop. More specifically, each product needed to be assigned a specific weight depending on a particular attribute. This weight could then be used to determine the final total shipping costs with the help of table-rate shipping. One way to achieve this, for example, is by writing a small plugin.

Sitemap Cover Bild

After the (supposedly) successful creation of a sitemap in Magento 2 (CE 2.3.5), a Parse Error was displayed when accessing the sitemap. The error: This page contains the following errors: Entity 'iacute' not defined. Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error. The solution offered here by our web agency or the workaround provided is, of course, not limited to the entity "iacute", i.e. "&amp;iacute;", which corresponds to the letter "í", but also applies to umlauts and other special characters such as Trademark (™) or similar.

Onlineshop Magento 2: Preise ohne Nachkommastellen

Current issue at our web agency while developing an online shop based on Magento 2: How can prices be displayed without decimal places in both the product detail view and the product list view? The good news: Magento 2 allows an optional $precision parameter when formatting the price with the formatCurrency() function, which is responsible for the display / rounding. The bad news: In the detail view, the price is formatted again using JavaScript.

Patch SUPEE-11555 Fehler media.js

If you encounter problems when applying the security patch SUPEE-11555 and the update aborts at the media.js file, the issue may be caused by the line endings. In this case, the following message is displayed during the online store's update process: "checking file js/tiny_mce/plugins/media/js/media.js Hunk #1 FAILED at 483 (different line endings).1 out of 1 hunk FAILED". However, this can be fixed easily.

Magento 2 EH Customer Approve

Encountered at our web agency in a Magento 2-based online store: At a certain point, it was no longer possible to log in to the admin area without any changes having been made to the online store. The generated error report indicated that the certificate of a page requested via the HTTPS protocol was not trusted. The requesting file was part of the Hut Extension "Customer Approval" extension. More specifically, the error was caused in the following file, where the change needs to be made:

Magento 2: Uncaught SyntaxError

If you receive the error "Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token O in JSON at position 145" on the product detail page, and the product image is no longer loaded and no AJAX / JavaScript operations work anymore, the solution may be relatively simple. In our online store running Magento 2 (Magento CE 2.2.5), the product name contained the "inch symbol" (") in the form of a double quotation mark.

Magento 2: Konfigurierbares Produkt

When you create a configurable product in Magento 2 and assign simple products to it using a selected attribute, those simple products can be selected from a dropdown on the product detail page. The images and price change, but the SKU does not. The dropdown also displays only the labels of the underlying attribute rather than the name of the associated simple product. Instead, the price difference compared to the currently selected simple product is displayed.

We wanted to achieve two things: hide the price difference and, instead, display the name of the respective associated simple product next to the attribute label. First, we created a small plugin and added the following lines to

404-Seite (no-route) Magento 2

Problem encountered at our web agency: A page link integrated into the online store system Magento 2 using a widget was not displayed on our no-route page, even though this was configured accordingly in the Magento backend. The type was set to "Page Link", Package/Theme to "Luma", and all available store views were selected ("All Store Views" would also have been sufficient!). The sort order is irrelevant here. The layout updates were configured for "Specified Page", namely the "CMS No-Route Default Page" ("CMS No Route"). This did not work either, but we will take a closer look at this later:

Admin Backend langsam Magento 1

If the Magento 1 backend is extremely slow, even when logging in or saving products, there are a few tricks that can help. Two key problem areas are the /var/cache directory and the core_url_rewrite table.

If the backend is already extremely slow when logging in, it can help to manually delete the contents of the var/cache/ directory.

If editing or saving products is very slow, this may be caused by slow database queries. These can be identified, for example, using a slow query log. In our case, the culprit was the extremely large core_url_rewrite table, where queries sometimes took more than 30 seconds to complete.

The solution was to back up the manual rewrites and select them, for example, using a REGEXP:

Klarna Payments Magento

How can you change the name (title / label) of the Klarna Payments solution in the checkout of an online shop built with Magento CE 1.9? To begin with: Unfortunately, this setting cannot be found in the backend. For example, the checkout may display "Invoice." with a period instead of "Invoice" without a period. In this case, a change in the "payment form block" can help. We therefore look in the file

DSGVO Magento

How do you change the name field in the Magento 1 contact form from a required field to an optional field? The background to this is that, as part of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into effect in 2018, you may want to give users the option of sending a message to the shop operator without having to provide their name.

Login Check für CMS-Seiten Magento

How can CMS pages be designed differently depending on whether a user is logged in or not? Basically, it's relatively simple: You create a PHTML file and then include it in the CMS page. In this file, you can use the isLoggedIn function, which returns whether the user is logged in or not, allowing you to generate different outputs, such as calling different static blocks.

Magento 2 Shopping-Cart

After logging in as a customer, we noticed that the shopping cart was not displayed at all. It was only visible on the customer account page. Whether the cart was displayed or not was defined in the following file: C:\xampp_7_1_23\htdocs\oku-online\app\design\frontend\econcess\default\Magento_Checkout\templates\cart\minicart.phtml   The if statement was:

Magento 2 Produktbeschreibung

On the homepage, under “Best-Selling Products”, a product description needs to be added to the products. To do this, an override must be created. The template file that needs to be overridden is located at:

\app\design\frontend\template-name\default\Magento_CatalogWidget\templates\product\widget\content\grid.phtml

We can find the block that needs to be inserted under

Magento 2 Online Store: Unexpected token during CMS file upload

If the file upload in Magento 2 (in this case: Magento 2.2.5) aborts when attempting to upload a video file in a static block, this may be due to an excessively large post_max_size. In this particular case, the PHP parameter in php.ini was set to 2048M, i.e. 2 gigabytes. If you look at the error displayed in the console when attempting to upload a file, you will see a message stating that the compiler encountered an "Unexpected token" while processing the program code and can no longer continue because of it.

Frontend Kommentare bei Bestellung

We now want to give the customer the option of entering comments during the ordering process, which should then be assigned to the order in the backend so that the shop operator can take them into account when processing the order. In addition, the customer should be able to find their comment both in the order confirmation email and in the order overview of their customer account. The first task can be solved quickly with a suitable extension; here we worked with the extension   . It works quite well overall, with a few weaknesses that can easily be addressed with a few minor adjustments. However, this extension only creates backend comments. The order confirmation and order overview do not contain the entered comment.

Magento DSGVO Kontaktform

If, as part of the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into force, you want to modify the Magento contact form so that the name is no longer a required field and instead becomes an optional field, there are a few things to consider. First, remove the "required" class and the "asterisk" in the file \app\design\frontend\PAKET\TEMPLATE\template\contacts\form.phtml, so that the result looks like this:

Datenschutz-Checkbox für Kontaktformular

How do you add a checkbox to the contact form and registration form in Magento 1.9, for example to confirm that the user is of legal age or to require acceptance of the privacy policy? A practical solution for this is the Terms and Conditions (Admin->Sales->Terms and Conditions). We now want to add confirmation of the privacy policy to the contact form and confirmation of the privacy policy and confirmation of legal age to the registration form, both in German and English (2 store views). To do this, we create 4 Terms and Conditions in the Magento backend (Age and Privacy Policy, each in German and English).

Sitemap mit Bildern Cover Bild

How do you create image sitemaps in a Magento online shop (multi-shop with 2 websites and 3 languages / store views per website) and exclude certain page types for individual store views? Here is one possible solution: First, we create subfolders for each sitemap, e.g. /sitemaps/sitemap-websitename1-storeviewname1/,  /sitemaps/sitemap-websitename1-storeviewname2/, etc. We then create a sitemap for each store view in the Magento backend and generate it, so that we have one sitemap per sitemap folder as a result (/sitemaps/sitemap-websitename1-storeviewname1/sitemap.xml,  /sitemaps/sitemap-websitename1-storeviewname2/sitemap.xml, etc.).

SUPEE-10570 und weiße Seite bei Warenkorb

After installing the SUPEE-10570 security patch for Magento CE 1.9.2.4, it can happen that the shopping cart displays only a blank page, without any errors appearing in the server logs or Magento logs. And this only occurs when compilation is enabled. Finding the error without any logs is relatively difficult—but after a long search, we were able to identify the culprit. In this case, it was a function in /app/code/core/Mage/Customer/Helper/Data.php, namely getPasswordTimestamp().

HEADERS ALREADY SENT in Http.php

If the following error message appears in the system log file var/log/system.log: DEBUG (7): HEADERS ALREADY SENT: <pre>[0] PATH_TO_MAGENTO_INSTALLATION\app\ code\core\Mage\Core\Controller\Response\Http.php:53, the first step is to find the location where the error actually occurs, since Http.php is only the downstream component. To do this, we add, for example, the following to the file

Magento UPS-Extension

After purchasing the "UPS Shipment" extension and downloading the file bms-magento-upsshipment-1.3.3.zip, it is unpacked and copied to the root directory of the Magento installation. The SOAP (PHP) extension must be enabled for this. After activating the extension, the error "Missing or invalid Shipto AttentionName" may occur when shipping to an address outside Germany. In this case, UPS requires not only the actual recipient but also the "Attn." entry, which is not transmitted by Magento.

Magento 1.9.3 ReferenceError

If the image upload no longer works in some areas of the Magento backend and the error "ReferenceError: Uploader is not defined" appears in the error console, this may be due to several required JavaScript files not being included. These files have become mandatory following the switch from Flash to HTML uploaders with Magento CE 1.9.3 and the corresponding patches.

Magento SSL-Verschlüsselung

How do you encrypt the backend and checkout in Magento? By selecting the appropriate setting in the backend under System->Configuration->GENERAL->Web->Secure. But how do you also encrypt all remaining pages? By entering the secure Base URL under System->Configuration->GENERAL->Web->Unsecure as well. Yesss, that easy, right! Unfortunately, not with existing Magento installations. What is the problem here? All unsecured subpages indexed by search engines (i.e. pages served using the http protocol) are now redirected to the homepage.

Magento PDF Upload

After applying the Magento patch SUPEE-9767, it is no longer possible to upload PDFs to the Magento system via the WYSIWYG editor's upload functionality, even if this file type had previously been added to the list of allowed extensions via a suitable config.xml. This is due to the newly introduced validate() function, which throws an exception after an unsuccessful attempt to determine the file format using getimagesize(). We therefore need to prevent this exception from being triggered.

Fooman Surcharge und PHP 7

In Magento, the Surcharge Extension makes it easy and convenient to charge surcharges for various areas of the online shop without having to modify Magento's built-in price rules to allow negative discounts. This can also be used for payment methods, for example, as a payment surcharge for cash on delivery, PayPal, and so on. With PHP 7, however, the display in the checkout changes—instead of the respective individual payment method surcharges, it simply displays "1" (+ currency).

PHP 7 und Probleme beim Bild-Upload

When using PHP 7 for Magento shops running CE 1.9 (in this case: 1.9.2.4), problems can occur when uploading images while editing a product. For example, the upload may abort or simply hang without any further error message. The reason for this is the "Uniform Variable Syntax" introduced with PHP 7. In simple terms, this means that when dealing with embedded variables, we now read from left to right rather than from right to left.

Magento Extension Single Configurable Products

When using the Magento extension "Simple Configurable Products" from Organic Internet, it should be possible to display the lowest price for a configurable product in the product list (within a category), based on the simple products assigned to it. In other words, the lowest price of all assigned products should be displayed. To achieve this, the SCP extension performs (for the most part) suitable database queries in which it requests the desired rows using the ORDER clause.

Magento Fehler

When using the Magento extension "Improved Navigation" from Amasty, the following error can occur: If the filters are integrated on a CMS page (e.g. as an entry point on the homepage), selecting a filter leads to the subpage "/shopby" with the respective option as a URL parameter. However, the controller does not recognize any involvement of the Amasty extension there and attempts to display a CMS page. After some research, it turns out that Amasty unnecessarily changes the URL "/shopby" to "/s", which cannot then be mapped correctly—the result is the display of the 404 page.

Magento Kategorien weiterleitung

Suppose we want to position several CMS pages in the main menu alongside the sales categories, which we can edit freely in the category management and move around as needed. As an example, let's take a page for presenting the company, which we create as a category called "Company" and which is then accessible at /company.html. However, we do not want /company.html to be displayed using a static block, for example (due to the limited editing options), but instead want to create a new CMS page called "Company", making it accessible at /company.

Magento Redirect

How can categories in Magento be redirected to CMS pages or contact pages? This is particularly convenient for multilingual online shops, as it allows individual content elements to be represented within the category structure, such as a company profile or a link to the contact form (provided by the system at /contacts). As described in several threads, unfortunately it is not enough to create a custom rewrite that is intended to replace the system rewrite.

Attribut mit Mehrfach Auswahl

The problem: We have created an attribute with the "Multiple Select" property and now want to use it in Magento in the category view for the sorting function, i.e. sort the product list according to the values of this attribute. In the standard settings of a multiple-select attribute, this functionality ("Use in Layered Navigation") cannot be enabled.

Reihenfolge der Beträge in Magento

With a little programming effort, you can get Magento to change the order in which amounts are displayed during the checkout process, in the shopping cart, and in the breakdown included in sent emails—here using taxes as an example, which we want to move below the grand total (changing the order in the admin area under System->Configuration->SALES->Sales->"Sort Order of Address Total Segments" does not produce the desired result here):

Block-Erstellung in Magento

Variant 1: href="/Magento-Agentur/Magento-Programmierung-Muenchen.php">Magento Block via XML
The block is defined in the file \app \design \frontend \Dein_Templatepack \Dein_Template \layout \page.xml. In our case, it is called "firstheader" and receives (optional) design specifications in the file

Core Web Vitals

What are Core Web Vitals?

With Core Web Vitals, Google introduced three new criteria in May 2021 for measuring the user-friendliness of a website. These metrics are intended to help assess and classify the user experience a website provides. The three main criteria are loading time, interaction time, and the stability of elements on a website.

Panda Update

At the end of September (September 26, 2014), the rollout of the new Panda update began. Perhaps Google's announcement of the rollout in the UK will also be the last of its kind, as the search engine operator had already announced some time ago that Panda updates would in future be incorporated into the regular search engine algorithm updates, thereby gradually improving the user experience and progressively lowering the rankings of websites with little added value.

Paypal Fehler unsupported response type Gambio

If you encounter problems with payment via PayPal Plus in a Gambio online shop and the PayPal error logs contain the message USER NOTICE: "ERROR performing request: unsupported response type application/json;charset=UTF-8", this may be due to an outdated shop version / PayPal plugin version. First, we locate the file that generates the error mentioned above and then try to make the online shop compatible with PayPal again by modifying the problematic section.

Navigationspfade-Probleme Gambio

If you receive the message "Breadcrumb issues detected on page xy" and Google Search Console subsequently explains the error with "data-vocabulary.org schema deprecated" (in this case: Breadcrumbs), you should make adjustments to the template files in order to implement the structured data using the currently valid markup. Our example here refers to breadcrumbs, which are intended to represent the navigation path using structured data / Rich Snippets.

Google Shopping Export Gambio

Our web agency was commissioned to create a feed for Google Shopping from the Gambio online shop system, or rather to correct the generation of the Shopping feed from Gambio, as there were several errors. For example, the shipping weight was not exported correctly. The shipping weight from the online shop was exported with a period (".") as the decimal separator. However, this needs to be a comma (","), so we have to change the export instruction in the "Shipping weight" column from

Gambio GX3 PayPal Plus

If the error message "PayPal is temporarily unavailable" appears in Gambio GX3 when attempting to pay with PayPal, and the logs contain the message "Error creating payment resource for ECM payment: ERROR creating payment: INVALID_EXPERIENCE_PROFILE_ID The requested experience profile ID was not found", this is due to incorrect backend settings in the PayPal PLUS module. The "Display on the PayPal payment page (PayPal parameters)" setting should be checked or adjusted under the expert settings.

ProduktSlider Cover Bild

The task: In Gambio, a homepage was to be redesigned so that the bestseller display would be replaced by three sliders. The first slider uses the entire available width of the page content. This is followed by two additional sliders, each taking up 50% of the available width and arranged side by side.

The Slick Slider project from http://kenwheeler.github.io/slick/ serves as the basis for this.   Including the JavaScript and CSS files from there makes it possible to display the child elements of an HTML element as a highly configurable slider.

Eigenschaften aus Filterauswahl Gambio

How can you display values from an item's filter selection in the product list / category overview? For example, if a product is available in certain sizes (e.g. XS, S, M, and L), you can already inform a customer looking for size XXL in the product overview (without requiring them to activate the corresponding filter first), saving the user unnecessary clicks on products that are not available in the desired size. The same applies to available colors: If you want to supplement the filtering options (e.g. yellow, red, green, blue, white, black, gray) and display more specific colors directly in the Gambio product overview (e.g. sky blue, azure blue, turquoise, or cobalt blue), you can use the filter assignments.

 Gambio Warenkorb

When a customer of a Gambio shop redeems a voucher by entering the voucher code in the shopping cart, the voucher is processed, but it is not deducted from the total displayed in the shopping cart. From a user experience and conversion rate perspective, it is better to display the applied discount directly. Here is a suggested solution for Gambio GX2:

7 Elemente, die jeder erfolgreiche Onlineshop braucht

An online shop is more than just a list of products. It needs to create trust, make purchasing decisions easier, and appeal to customers' emotions. Anyone who neglects these factors is giving away revenue and valuable customer loyalty. In this article, you will learn which elements should not be missing from any successful shop and how to implement them optimally.

Anti-Cyrillic

Does this sound familiar? You have built an online shop with the Magento CMS to sell your products online. To improve customer loyalty, your customers can send you messages via forms. But your inbox is full of spam messages in Cyrillic, Arabic, or Chinese, and you don't know how to effectively protect yourself against them?

Shopware Tipps

If you use Shopware as an e-commerce platform for your company, you certainly know that operating and scaling it optimally requires a great deal of time, effort, and resources. To ensure that your Shopware shop grows quickly and that you are successful in the e-commerce business, you need expert knowledge. In this blog post, we provide you with a guide on how to scale your Shopware shop quickly and efficiently. We will explain helpful tips and techniques so that you can maximize your e-commerce success. Let's get started and discover which steps you need to take to achieve the perfect scaling of your Shopware shop.

Sprungmarken

Our agency's goal was to use a hash in the URL to target an anchor on an online shop based on Shopware 5. In other words, we wanted to automatically scroll down to an anchor (to an element with the ID "someanchor") after entering, for example, https://irgendeinonlineshop.de#irgendeinesprungmarke in the browser. In principle, this mechanism is application-independent; it works just as well in a Magento 2 online shop as it does on a static HTML website. However, this is not the case in Shopware 5 if the anchor is embedded in a shopping world, regardless of whether it is loaded via AJAX or not.

Shopware 5 Webshop - EAN von Optionen in Artikeldetails

Question from our agency regarding a webshop built with Shopware 5: How can you add the EANs of the variant products of a main product to the variant selection? The goal here was to add the EAN as an additional identifier to the respective option, which could then be controlled via an automated size selection. In other words: If I select a specific size using a size calculator, this size is selected via the corresponding EAN (jQuery), and the associated variant product is then loaded. This can also be applied to the more general question: How can I add properties of main or variant products or any additional information to the product detail page of my Shopware 5 online shop?

Shopware GTM Plugin

At our web agency, we use the Google Tag Manager plugin by codiverse for a Shopware 5 customer. The plugin prepares a dataLayer that can then be conveniently read via Google Tag Manager. However, we were missing the current shopping cart value, which in the basic configuration of the online shop / plugin was only provided during checkout.

Smartfit Größenrechner mit Varianten

At our agency, we use a Smartfit size calculator for a project that can calculate the size of the desired item based on several parameters. The problem here is that the part of the product detail page that contains the calculator is re-rendered via AJAX after a variant is selected, and the size calculator is then not re-populated and no longer works.

Textbausteine über Zahlart im Checkout einbauen

Today's problem at our web agency: We want to add a text block above a selected payment method on a website / online shop (implemented with Shopware 5) that we can freely modify. In this particular case, we want to display a note above various leasing models indicating that additional information is required in a text field. Our Shopware 5 online shop also uses PayPal Plus, meaning that payment methods other than PayPal are rendered through the PayPal Plus module. Therefore, we cannot modify the standard Bare theme directly, but instead need to make changes to the PayPal plugin in our theme.

Plugin Consors Finanz

If you want to change the specified financing example of the Shopware plugin "Consors Finanz" by the plugin developer "MILLEMEDIA" on the product detail page, this cannot be done via the backend. Instead, you can intervene directly in the function that selects the respective example. For example, we do not want to display the lowest installment, but rather the lowest installment with 0% financing.

Shopware Online Store: Integrating Google Tag Manager into Shopware

When we create an online shop with Shopware, a customer may request that Google Tag Manager be integrated as a supporting tool for online marketing. There are extensions available for this, but for technicians, doing it manually is basically easier and faster and generally does not result in compatibility issues or the need to make adjustments after updates. In principle, changes in just 2 places in Shopware are enough to make the online shop ready for Google Tag Manager.

Shopware Backend Bestellungen Serverfehler Error 500

If you encounter an AJAX error (Error 500) in the Shopware backend in the order overview (Customers->Orders) and cannot view all customer orders, it is advisable to check the Shopware error logs (directly in the backend or via var/log/). In our case, the error indicated that there were problems with the payment status. The exact error message in the log file was:

PayPal Express Button

Problem statement at our web agency: If the current PayPal plugin ("SwagPaymentPayPalUnified", see https://store.shopware.com/swag828732772311f/paypal.html, which replaces the old "PayPal Express" plugin) is used to enable PayPal Express Checkout in a Shopware online shop, but the PayPal Express Checkout is not displayed, this may be due to the localization of the Shopware shop. In our case, the console reported the JavaScript error "Error: Expected props.locale to be valid", meaning that the localization was invalid. In our case, it was Kazakh (language code "kk_KZ"), because we use the "Deutsch Du - Shopware 5+ ready" language pack from "Shop Uebersetzungen". However, the code "kk-KZ" is not supported by the PayPal plugin. So what can be done?

Mobiles OffCanvas Menü Shopware

Question at our web agency while creating a Shopware online shop: How can you prevent the category menu from being displayed when opening the OffCanvas menu in the mobile views (viewports "s" and "xs") for categories without subcategories, forcing the user to click again to return to the main navigation? This behavior, which is included by Shopware in the standard installation, is implemented using a plugin ("swSubCategoryNav") that relies on the attribute "[data-subcategory-nav="true"]". This behavior is defined in the file

Akkordeon statt Tab Shopware

Problem statement at our web agency: In a Shopware-based online shop, we want to set up an accordion for all viewports / screen widths that contains the product description in the product detail view. To do this, we can use the existing swCollapsePanel plugin, which Shopware already uses, for example, to display the cross-selling slider in the "s" and "xs" viewports via the StateManager (using the selector ".tab-menu--cross-selling .tab--header" for the header and ".tab--content" for the content). First, we take a look at the file

Breakpoints anpassen Shopware

Today’s problem at our web agency: How do I change the breakpoints in a child theme based on the Responsive theme in a Shopware-based online shop? Ideally, we would simply move the file in which the breakpoints are defined into the child theme and then change the breakpoints there. Unfortunately, it does not work that way. We have to use the StateManager, which allows us in Shopware to execute JavaScript plugins depending on different screen widths (see also https://developers.shopware.com/designers-guide/javascript-statemanager-and-pluginbase/).

Warenkorb-Button in Wishlist Shopware 5

Even without a plugin, it is relatively straightforward to add an add-to-cart button to the wishlist in an online shop implemented with Shopware 5. Based on the buy button used in the product listing (/themes/Frontend/Bare/frontend/listing/product-box/button-buy.tpl), we need to find the appropriate template file for displaying the items in the wishlist. We find this in /themes/Frontend/Bare/frontend/note/item.tpl. More specifically, the relevant block here is {block name="frontend_note_item_actions_buy"}. Of course, you should not modify the Bare theme directly, but instead extend the block in your own theme. We then populate the block with the shopping cart form, as it is also displayed in the product listing:

Shopware Onlineshop Fehlermeldung

The Shopware error message "core.ERROR: exception 'Doctrine\DBAL\Types\ConversionException' with message 'Could not convert database value "s:0:""" to Doctrine Type object'" or a similar error message may indicate invalid values in the "s_core_config_elements" table. If a terminating semicolon is missing after an entry in the "value" column, Shopware (under Linux) cannot process it (whereas Windows can).

Shopware Dropdown Menü

Online shops built with Shopware can be set up professionally and offer good usability for both shop operators and users. However, Shopware has a difficult relationship with older browsers — unfortunately, there is no other way to put it. Here is an example of how Shopware can cost an online shop developer several hours of work: In the standard Shopware template, the service dropdown menu in the top right cannot be opened because it immediately disappears again after briefly opening. This problem occurred on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 (GT-P5200) using the native Android browser. The reason is the simultaneous assignment of "click" and "touchstart" listeners, which in

Shopware Performance erhöhen

The speed of a shop, alongside user guidance and styling, is a decisive factor for many customers when deciding whether or not to place an order with you. A shop where customers have to wait 20–30 seconds before they can see the next page will have a hard time being successful. Many customers will abandon their purchase in frustration before completing their order because they are (rightly) unwilling to wait minutes for the product details or checkout to load. That is why it is important to keep waiting times as short as possible. Today, I will show you how to achieve this.

 Html-Formatierung im Artikel Listing Shopware

By default, Shopware does not use HTML formatting in the product listing. This is inconvenient when you have different, independent pieces of information in the product description that you naturally want to display in a structured way.
For example: the product name, the manufacturer, a product description, and the place of origin. Without HTML formatting, all of this is displayed in the listing without formatting or line breaks, one item after another. We will now show you how to enable HTML formatting in the listing.

Woocommerce - Versandkosten verstecken worpdress

For some inexplicable reason, the “WooCommerce” plugin does not have the option to display only the free shipping method when a certain order value is reached. Normally, the standard shipping method is displayed alongside the free shipping option. This can often be confusing for customers and should therefore be changed for usability reasons.

Ein Leitfaden zur Typo3-Programmierung für Anfänger

TYPO3 programming can initially be a somewhat confusing challenge for beginners. However, with a few basic steps and the right understanding, newcomers can quickly achieve success. In this guide, we would like to introduce you to the first steps in TYPO3 programming and make it easier for you to get started.

TYPO3 vs. WordPress: Welches CMS ist das Richtige für Ihre Website?

TYPO3 and Wordpress are two of the most popular content management systems (CMS) on the market. Both offer a wide range of features and options for creating and managing websites. But which CMS is right for your website? In this comparison, we will take a closer look at the differences between TYPO3 and Wordpress to help you make the right decision.

Die Installation von TYPO3

TYPO3 is a content management system that is used by many companies worldwide. It is open-source software and can be downloaded free of charge. In this blog post, we will show you a step-by-step guide to installing TYPO3.

Warum eine Webseite mit TYPO3 erstellen?

TYPO3 is an open-source content management system, also known as a CMS. The system has been developed since 1998 and is now one of the most well-known systems for creating websites. It is a very powerful CMS that comes with many features that can significantly simplify the management and creation of websites. There are also several extensions that can expand the functionality of TYPO3.

Typo3 Updates

Typo3 CMS is a content management software that is available in several different languages and offers a wide range of features. Typo3 CMS enables users to set up and manage websites and applications without any prior programming knowledge. It is versatile, secure, and robust, but it is necessary to update the software regularly to ensure that you are always using the latest version. In this article, we explain how to effectively perform Typo3 CMS upgrades & updates and understand their benefits. We also explain common problems that can occur when performing Typo3 CMS upgrades and security updates and provide a conclusion on how users can always stay up to date.

Typo 3 Abschnittsverzeichnis für News-Records

Task at our web agency: We need a content element that automatically displays all sections, i.e. the content headings of the elements assigned to a news record. This element already exists for regular pages, but here we need to use the tx_news_related_news column, which references an entry in the tx_news_domain_model_news table for each content element.

TYPO3 Agentur Hacks

The challenge we faced at our agency was this: How can we create custom `cropVariants` (for `fal_media`) within the TYPO3 `news` extension (TYPO3 v9) to provide specific cropping templates or masks—such as aspect ratios of 12:1, 8:3, or others of our choice? The standard solution—like the one shown at https://github.com/georgringer/news/issues/371—did not work for us.

Menü mit Verweisen und Subtitle-Links

Task at our agency: In a menu of a TYPO3 installation (TYPO3 v9.5), the subtitles of the menu items should be linked to their corresponding pages, meaning that the link target of the subtitles should match the link target of the actual menu items. It would seem logical to set a typolink with parameter.data = field:uid. However, this only works for regular pages that do not point to other pages. For shortcut menu items, this would mean that the menu item itself would link to the correct destination/reference page after the menu has been built normally, while the subtitle would link to the page itself and therefore result in a 404 error.

Imagemagick Graphicsmagick

In a TYPO3 (TYPO3 9) installation at our agency, we encountered problems with image processing using ImageMagick. ImageMagick was installed via the software manager, and Ghostscript was installed as well. Nevertheless, in the backend, when checking Image Processing under "Environment->Image Processing", we received the message "Image generation failedImage generation failedImageMagick / GraphicsMagick handling is enabled, but the execute command returned an error. Please check your settings, especially ['GFX']['processor_path'] and ['GFX']['processor_path_lzw'] and ensure Ghostscript is installed on your server."

Frontend-Layout für Änderungen im Header

In a TYPO3 project at our agency, we wanted to display a different header for specific pages, i.e. a different logo, menu structure, etc. This can be implemented in just a few simple steps (using a website with TYPO3 v9.5.19 as an example): First, we add a custom layout in the Page TSconfig, e.g. with the following configuration:

Blog einrichten Typo3

In our web agency, we had to set up a blog system for TYPO3 for one of our clients. For this, we used a plugin. There are a few points that need to be taken into consideration during the process.

1. First, we need to install the blog extension (https://docs.typo3.org/p/t3g/blog/9.1/en-us/Index.html) under Extensions.

2. Next, we need to set up our blog. Under System > Blog > Setup a new Blog, the structure of our new blog was created. It should look like this:

 Partials der blog Extension überschreiben

If you want to override the partials of the TYPO3 <code>blog</code> extension within a TYPO3 website (v9.5), for example to customize the list view, it is sufficient to add the following configuration to the Template Setup and then create the corresponding partials (in our agency, the file was \fileadmin\templates\ext\blog\Partials\List\Post.html):

Core Update

At our agency, we carried out an update from TYPO3 v8 to TYPO3 v9. The template used was based on the TYPO3 extension gridelements. After the update, however, some elements in the website's frontend were styled incorrectly. In the website backend, it was apparent that the corresponding element layout was incorrectly configured under the "Appearance" tab. The reason for this is that the layout field in the tt_content table is modified during the core update.

Core Update von 8 auf 9

At our web agency, we carried out an update from TYPO3 v8 to TYPO3 v9. The template used was based on the TYPO3 extension gridelements. After the update, however, some elements in the frontend were incorrectly positioned and styled. The same "mess" was visible in the website backend: the child elements had left their parent elements and were scattered around in the wrong order. The reason for this is that the colPos field in the tt_content table is modified during the core update. See also the GridElements documentation:

No implementation found to handle given hash.

During the update of a TYPO3 website from version 8 to version 9 at our web agency, the following error occurred:

component="TYPO3.CMS.Core.Error.ProductionExceptionHandler": Core: Exception handler (WEB): Uncaught TYPO3 Exception #1234567890: No implementation found to handle given hash. This happens if the stored hash uses a mechanism not supported by current server. Follow the wiki link to fix this issue.

As a result, we were also unable to log in to the website's Install Tool via the URL /typo3/install.php. TYPO3 9 uses argon2i as its default password hashing method, but unfortunately, this was not available on the development server we were using. So, what can be done?

TYPO3 Introduction Package

To customize an existing template in TYPO3 based on the Introduction Package, it is usually sufficient to work within the \typo3conf\ext\bootstrap_package\Resources\Private\Templates\Page\ directory. For example, to customize the three-column template, you can modify the file \typo3conf\ext\bootstrap_package\Resources\Private\Templates\Page\Default3Columns.html. However, if you want the option to add additional row structures above or below the existing three-column layout, this needs to be configured in the backend layouts.

TYPO3 Lösung

If you are using the TYPO3 Bootstrap Introduction Package and want to extend the main menu to display 3 levels instead of the initial 2 levels, essentially only 2 areas need to be adjusted. First, in the setup.txt file (which can be found at \typo3conf\ext\bootstrap_package\Configuration\TypoScript\setup.txt), make sure that enough levels are available for display so that the MenuProcessor knows how many levels it should provide. Then, the corresponding template file needs to be extended to render the menu in the desired way. The Main.html file can be found at \typo3conf\ext\bootstrap_package\Resources\Private\Partials\Page\Navigation\.

Sprachen im Typo3

In the version of the TYPO3 Introduction Package that we installed, two languages were configured by default: Danish and English. These needed to be changed to German and English, with German serving as the default language.

To do this, select the “List” option in the backend and click on the root directory of the site (the parent directory above the option with the globe icon). This is where you can configure the website languages.

Shopware 5 End of Life: Why Waiting Could Prove Costly Now

Online commerce never sleeps, and neither does the technology behind it. For many e-commerce entrepreneurs, Shopware 5 was the reliable backbone of their success for almost a decade. But that era is now definitively over: With the official End-of-Life (EOL), the manufacturer has completely discontinued support for Version 5. Many shop operators are now asking themselves: “My shop is running stably – do I really need to take action immediately?”

Warum E-Mail-Marketing ein starker Kanal bleibt

In times of social media, paid ads, and content marketing, it is often forgotten that email marketing is one of the most effective channels for long-term customer retention and increasing sales. Despite new platforms, the direct line to customers through their inbox remains unbeatable.

Vom Chaos zur Klarheit: Wie ein gutes Kick-off-Meeting Projekte rettet

The project start is crucial. Even before the first wireframe is drawn or the first line of code is written, the kick-off meeting lays the foundation for the project's success. And yet, this moment is often underestimated or handled too superficially. The rule is: Taking the time to create clarity at the beginning saves time, money – and nerves later on.

Die Ethik der KI im Marketing: Wie weit ist zu weit?
