Signs that your WordPress website needs attention
If two or more of these apply, it is worth taking a look at the technology.
- Lots of updates are waiting in the dashboard.Core, theme and plugins – and nobody knows whether everything will still work afterwards.
- More than twenty plugins are active. Each of them is code that someone has to maintain, and a potential way in for attackers.
- A page builder is slowing the site down. The website loads slowly on smartphones, and changes take a long time.
- WordPress reports a “critical error”.Usually after an update, when a plugin no longer matches the PHP version.
- The theme no longer receives updates.Purchased themes are often no longer developed after just a few years.
- The cookie notice has not been sorted out.Embedded services such as maps, videos or fonts need a proper solution.

An example: CrossFit Helden Pforzheim
We built the website for the CrossFit box in Pforzheim with WordPress. The team maintains training times, offers and events themselves; the site is designed for the smartphone, which is what most visitors use to access it.

When we recommend WordPress, and when we don’t
WordPress is a good fit if …
- one or a few people maintain the content
- posts, events and news are the main focus
- the website needs to go live quickly and the budget is manageable
- you want plenty of tutorials and specialists for the system
We advise against it if …
- many editorial teams work with approvals and roles: then TYPO3 or Plone is a better choice
- an intranet or members’ area with fine-grained permissions is needed
- large sites are maintained in many languages
- the website needs to run for many years without a rebuild (Which CMS is right?)
What we do for your WordPress website
New website with WordPress
Concept, design and a lean custom theme instead of an overloaded off-the-shelf theme. Your editors maintain content in the block editor.
Auditing and trimming plugins
We check every plugin for maintenance, usefulness and security, replace duplicate functions and remove what nobody needs.
Updates and support
Keeping core, theme and plugins up to date, testing major updates on a staging copy first, regular backups: that is website maintenance.
Loading speed and accessibility
Images, scripts and caching for fast pages on smartphones; audit and fixes according to WCAG 2.2 (accessibility).
Data protection for embedded services
Hosting fonts locally, loading maps and videos only after a click, and a consent solution that matches the services you actually use.
Help after an attack
Securing evidence, removing malicious code, renewing access credentials and closing the vulnerability. Current case in point: the PHP security vulnerability.

Frequently asked questions about WordPress
Is WordPress secure?
As secure as it is maintained. Most attacks exploit outdated plugins and themes, not the WordPress core. Regular updates, a small number of well-maintained plugins and backups make the difference.
What is the current WordPress version?
As of 30.10.2026 it is WordPress 7.1, released on 19.08.2026. Older versions also receive security updates, but new features are only added to the current one.
Can you take over a purchased theme?
Yes. We check whether it is still maintained. If not, we build a custom theme with the same look so that the website can continue to take updates.
Do I need a page builder?
Usually not. The WordPress block editor is sufficient for most pages, is faster and remains more reliable during updates.
How much does a WordPress website cost?
That depends on scope, design and functionality. After a short conversation you receive a written quote with a description of the services included.
