Joomla 3 or 4
Plan your migration now. Without security updates, every newly discovered vulnerability stays open, and Joomla 3 keeps your server stuck on old PHP versions.
Joomla 5 or 6
Joomla 5 only receives security updates now. We will plan the update to Joomla 6 with you over the coming months; on Joomla 6, regular updates are all you need.

Sample report with fictitious data
From Joomla 3 to Joomla 5 and 6: not a single click, but predictable
The path leads via Joomla 4 and 5, and for Joomla 6 the server needs PHP 8.3. The effort rarely lies in the content, but in the template and extensions. That is why we start with an audit report.
- Inventory: version, PHP, template and every extension, with a recommendation
- Test copy: migration on a copy while your live website keeps running
- Acceptance: you check content, forms and design
- Switchover: on the agreed date, followed by a check of the redirects

What we take care of for your Joomla website
Individual tasks or everything together, depending on what your website needs right now.
Migration from Joomla 3 and 4
Audit report, migration on a test copy and switchover on a fixed date. Content, menus, users and URLs are preserved.
Update from Joomla 5 to Joomla 6
Joomla 6 requires Joomla 5.4 and PHP 8.3. We check beforehand whether all extensions are ready, and only switch off the backward compatibility plugin for old extensions once nothing depends on it any more.
New template in your existing design
Old templates based on Bootstrap 2 do not run under Joomla 5 and 6. We rebuild them while keeping colours, fonts and layout, and on request make them accessible in line with WCAG 2.2.
Review and replace extensions
We check every extension for maintenance status and compatibility and replace anything that is no longer maintained, with Joomla's built-in features wherever possible.
Security and forensic checks
Updates, secure login with a second factor (part of the core since Joomla 4.2) and a check for foreign files and accounts. The current PHP security vulnerability shows how important this is.
Ongoing support
Updates, backups and minor changes as part of our website maintenance.
Signs that your Joomla website needs help
- The administrator area shows a red warning.Joomla itself reports when the core or extensions are out of date.
- Your host wants to switch PHP versions.Older Joomla versions no longer run on new PHP versions.
- Google lists unfamiliar pages under your domain.A typical sign of injected spam pages.
- There are administrator accounts nobody recognises. In that case, acting quickly matters more than any explanation.
- An extension no longer receives updates.Page builders and form extensions are particularly often affected.
- Nobody dares to run updates.Because something broke last time. A test copy takes the risk out of it.

Frequently asked questions about Joomla
Can I update Joomla 3 directly to Joomla 6?
No. The path leads via Joomla 4 and 5: from 3.10 to 4.4, then to 5.4 and from there to Joomla 6. Content and users are carried over along the way; the template and extensions usually have to be replaced or adapted.
What happens if I simply keep running Joomla 3?
There have been no security updates since 17 August 2023, so every newly discovered vulnerability remains open. Joomla 3 is also not built for current PHP versions. Anyone who keeps running it remains stuck on old PHP versions, which themselves no longer receive security updates.
Will my design be preserved during the migration?
Yes, if you wish. The template is technically rebuilt, and we carry over colours, fonts and layout. Many clients use the migration to make their website accessible at the same time.
How long does a migration take?
That depends mainly on the template and extensions. You receive the schedule together with the audit report. Your website stays online until the switchover.
Do you also support Joomla websites built by other agencies?
Yes. We take over existing Joomla websites, check them first and tell you what needs doing immediately and what can wait.
